Personally, I think they should have named the moon Persephone (aka Proserpina) instead of Charon just to be methodologically consistent, but by convention the discoverer gets to pick the name, so I suppose I can't blame him for choosing a variation on his wife's name Sharon.

"Mythologically consistent." Auto-correct got the better of me.

Rich: Auto-correct--hate it when that happens. Yes, but he probably scored major points with the wife as well (who says astronomers aren't romantic?), plus anything might have been better than S/1978 P 1. Staying consistent must be a human failing, though we're creatures of habit. I guess human nature is a paradox ie. check out the logic to Microsoft's operating systems: numbers, letters, then back to numbers. We had Windows 8.1, now 10. What's up with that?
