Richard Feynman

I'm still around.  I just got back from a trip to Austin, Texas, which I'll update later.  Sort of slow getting back into the groove of things.  Last night not much was on the TV, so I opted to watch this documentary on Richard Feynman.  It was pretty good too.

Off to see the dentist today, so have to get ready for that.  Shouldn't be too bad, except to pay for it.

Good to have you back. Hope your trip went well. Ugh the dentist, never a fun visit. :(

I got off easy today, Roman. His receptionist called me today about the time I was ready to hit the door, and cancelled my appointment as the dentist was running 102 temperature, so he went to see a doctor himself. She said she was going to re-schedule me later some time. And so it goes... ;)

Richard Feynman is a gas. I’d definitely recommend his autobiographical books “Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman! (Adventures of a Curious Character)” and "‘What Do You Care What Other People Think?’: Further Adventures of a Curious Character.” They deal with everything from his college experiences to the Manhattan Project to the Challenger investigation – all with humor and personal anecdotes. His lectures were great at making physics accessible without dumbing them down to the point of being misleading, as most popularizers do.

I haven’t yet watched this documentary, but the filmmakers had a great subject.

Yes, Rich, I was a bit apprehensive about the documentary, but really it's very accessible, and like Carl Sagan, was seemingly a very approachable person. The doc mirrors some topics which you state the books do - Manhattan Project (and how the aftermath affected him) and the Challenger investigation, and also interviewed his sister and children. All in all it's interesting.
